DSCF8966DSCF8964

DSCF8972DSCF8974DSCF8967

Ok not better than last week for the photos…loll .We are outside a lot since it is summer and play with slippery slide, mini pool etc.

The craft up there is a pumpkin carriage but you really need to be told because it doesn’t look anything like I though it would…it was still fun to make loll.

National aboriginal day theme

For our first nation week theme we built a Teepee scene with canoes a fire pit for the lala loopsies so the children could play  and try to understand how they used to live before Europeans as we read in some of the book I got from the library.

Spaghetti Easter nest

DSCF8418

We made this nest with left over spaghetti, it was very easy and fun. I realise that I cooked it too fast but we had no intention of eating it lol

DSCF8405DSCF8406

While it was cooking we made a family to go in it. The girls loved their chicken family and played with it the rest of the afternoon building houses for them with blocks since we had to let the nest cool down and dry.

DSCF8416

We also read this book who went with the craft…DSCF8407

Such a fun and colourful book, we really liked it…

Pretend gardening week

DSCF8264I know that it is way to early to be in the garden but I just needed to pretend the winter was over lol

DSCF8254We planted a bean each in a glass but didn’t get a chance to see it change yet. It will probably starts next week. However we saw something similar  here.DSCF8275

I made a gardening sensory bin with coffee beans and it made the place smell really good.

Zoo theme

DSCF8219

Lucky me found a few animal theme book from Eric Carle for our Zoo week! I love his books, it is so creative and kid’s friendly!

DSCF8217

Inspired by the book we made a related craft. I first traced each kid’s foot or paper then cut some ears, horns and a neck. We used the foot for the head, yarn and finger prints for the spots.

DSCF8215

We also made a paper plate snake. decorated with bingo dabbers.DSCF8221DSCF8224

Then we learned about the flamingo, had a contest to see who could hold the flamingo pose the longest (it wasn’t me).

Then we made this “hand print number 4 feathery bird”.

DSCF8231

We also made those funny looking penguins and played this custom made penguin game with a dice. How fun mathematics can get?

DSCF8233DSCF8235

Then we read a book about parrots, learn where than hang out, where they sleep and what they eat.

After making the puppet…

DSCF8237DSCF8239DSCF8240DSCF8247DSCF8244

we each had a turn at playing the parrot role and  asking the others : are you a fruit, a nut or a flower? After the answered the parrot had to eat them (it’s when the chasing was happening) Lots of fun!

There was also animals potato paw print…

We made a papier maché heart magnet to stick on the fridge.

DSCF8141DSCF8142

We baked heart shaped cookies and decorated them then had them for snack along with strawberries.

Winter theme

Those books are great! It’s a series to help kids learn to read and they kind of follow the seasons with a few exceptions.
